The famous postcard scene showing the protruding tip of Phuket is known as Promthep Cape, a
popular place for locals and tourists to gather and take photographs of the scenic
landscape, fringed with coconut trees and outlying islands. This is the most southernly
point of the island that draws crowds at sunset, with views over the bay housing Nai Harn
Beach. There is a walking trail to explore, that leads to the edge of the juxtaposing land,
as well as an observation level built higher up on the hill. Here you will find the
Kanchanaphisek Lighthouse, which is also a small museum, where visitors can climb up the
stairs to the top of the look out tower. Close by is a Buddhist elephant shrine decorated
with hundreds of elephants of all sizes, where locals pay respects by praying and burning
incense.
